Matwork / Core Class
Our Matwork class aims to increase your core strength and stability. It is similar to a remedial Pilates class, with the majority of the class targeted towards core strength for lower back pain. Having a strong core is essential in helping to prevent recurrences of neck and back pain. We work on the abdominal muscles, gluteal muscles, and lower back muscles. The class also targets other joints in the body such as the shoulder and knees to help increase strength and stability for work and sport. We also work on our posture muscles to help office workers with neck and shoulder pain.
Who can benefit from our Matwork class?
People with back or neck pain
People who need to work on their core strength and stability following injury
Office workers who spend the majority of the day sitting at a desk
Anyone looking to improve their core strength
Our matwork class is a group class. The class runs for a full hour and is instructed by an experienced Physiotherapist with additional training in Pilates.
The exercises in our matwork class are a combination of remedial pilates exercises and physiotherapy exercises. We also perform stretches after we’ve worked on each muscle group. All of the exercises can be modified depending on your level of strength. The classes are small enough for your program to be tailored to your individual needs. You will have specific instructions and personal feedback to ensure you are performing the exercises with the correct form. The exercises target each muscle in isolation, and we work the muscles to fatigue, aiming to build up your strength and endurance.
Our Matwork class does not require any form of membership. Simply pay for the classes that you attend. Our classes are held at the back of our Physio practice, and you can enter either from the front or rear entrance. All you need to bring is a towel, water bottle, and make sure you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move around in. We provide yoga mats for everyone.
We run our matwork/ Pilates class on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM, and Thursday mornings at 11:00 AM. If you would like any further information please contact us on 9875 3760, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
